The inner sanctum and a new journal page

Ah, it's good to be back.  We spent the better part of the last three days with a team of two craftsmen - Doug and John - who worked some carpentry miracles on the main floor of our house.  In the process, our living room furniture migrated to the kitchen for a while and at one point, the very, very heavy kitchen appliances were pulled kicking and screaming into the tiny hallway that separates the kitchen from the living room.  (I'm pretty sure that the fridge is still holding a bit of a grudge.)  Mountains of various and sundry stuff were moved upstairs and still line the skinny hallway outside the bedrooms.

While they were here, Doug and John worked with quiet intensity most of the time, but we did have the chance to chat and get to know each other a little.  It wasn't long before they knew where the water glasses were kept and that the snacks on the kitchen counter were for all to share.  Then, when we had to remove the toilet on the main floor for a day, they had no choice but to use the bathroom upstairs - in the inner sanctum -  the room that is not always given the same organizational attention as its counterpart on the first floor, the place where many of our personal grooming items are sitting out there in the open . . .

I think that makes them family now.  I'll have to set two extra places for Christmas dinner and I admit that it felt very strange to see them go yesterday.

Today is a new day, though, and with it comes an overdue journal page.  It includes a spot for your various to-dos . . .

and a spine-tingling lightning round complete with vampires and public speaking . . .

The full page looks a little something like this . . .

and you can find it here.  I'll meet you back here on Monday with a new page.  Happy weekend!
