Part Journal, part to-do list, part procrastination device . . .

Update: The journal page in this post is no longer available for download. For a selection of free, printable journal pages, please visit my Printable Journal Pages collection.

I love fill-in-the-blanks, multiple choice questionnaires, to-do lists and word games of any shape or size.

On the surface, they're fun and quick and even silly, but they can also capture something a wee bit deeper . . . a snapshot of a person's thoughts and feelings at a certain moment in time.  The simple to-do list, for example, can also be viewed as a record of goals and accomplishments.

Lately, I've been fiddling with ideas for journal pages that act like snapshots.  They'd offer the chance to fill in a few blanks for fun, while also recording a few of the day's comings and goings.  A little whimsy, a whiff of substance.  Here's a glimpse at one I've been working on:

It's a work-in-progress and I have a few more on the go.  Over the next few weeks, I'll post one each weekday.  They're undated, printable and free to download here if you'd like fill in a few blanks about your day.

I hope you'll stop by tomorrow for the next page!

  1. You say "procrastination device", I say "meditation device". I think this is a brilliant way to give yourself a quick break during the day.

If you had 30 of these (all different), they would be a fantastic tool for seeing where you are from month to month.

You should compile them in an e-book format - I'll buy the first copy!

  2. Patrick,

    An e-book . . . I hadn't considered that. Thanks for the encouragement!

I love the idea of holding on to the pages -- to see how far you've come and who's been on your mind. I punched binder holes in mine, but also an envelope or even a big paper clip (or e-book!) would do.

Thanks, as always, for a great comment!

  6. Hi Squirrel,

I'm sorry you've had trouble downloading the pages! I'm not sure what the problem could be. If you could send me an email at christie@graceisoverrated.com I'd be happy to discuss it with you in more detail and I'm sure we can figure it out!

  7. I'm so excited to give myself a little fun and get to fill these pages in. Perhaps save them for my young daughter to peek at one day when she's all grown up.

I downloaded almost all of them and then pages one and two won't download or even show up. Ack! Any suggestions? I'd love to have the full collection before I begin.

I'll also definitely pass your blog on to other folks.

    Thanks!

I know that she would love to journal but a blank canvas can be so daunting and intimidating so the prompts are perfect! I truly appreciate all of the work you did to create these and the are truly wonderful. Thank you so so much!!!
